TCH JCB vs VP UK Forks Cricket Match 2011

TC Harrison JCB were very pleased to host VP UK Forks in a annual cricket match on 19th Sept.

VP batted first & in the 20 overs they scored 103 losing 5 wickets, 2 for Steve Slyziak, 1 for Darren Bottomley, 1 for Mark Hammond & one for myself. The highlight of this innings was Andy Norris’ 3 fantastic catches leaping around like a salmon.

In reply TCH scored 105 off 15 overs losing just 1 wicket that of Dan Hart. Leigh Harris & myself scored 35 each & had to declare, Andy Norris scored 31 not out & Robert Virr was 0 not out.

We would like to thank everyone who was involved in making the match a great success and look forward to the next one!

August bank holiday 2011 Shows...

TC Harrison JCB have had a very busy August bank holiday weekend participating in two events the Moorgreen Country Show and Barnard Castle Truck Show.

The Moorgreen show is a traditional showcase of the area's rich rural herritage featuring agri and horticultural content. The show is one for all the family and was supported by JC Balls dancing digger team. http://www.moorgreenshow.co.uk

The Barnard Castle Truck Show over the last few years as become a major event with a wide selection of vehicles on display for all to see. Year after year the truck show has proven to be an event for the whole family to enjoy. Cromford Steam Rally

The rally is now in its 41st Year and TC Harrison JCB were very happy to participate in such a fantastic event for the whole family. Pictured above are the JC Balls dancing diggers who put on a great display for all.

Great Yorkshire Show 2011

Lincolnshire Show 2011

TC Harrison JCB were proud to participate in the 2011 Lincolnshire Show. The show was held over two days and apart from the downpours of rain a fantastic time was had.

Yorkshire Charity Clay day

TC Harrison JCB were proud to sponsor the Yorkshire Charity Clay day at Castle Howard, York on the 10th May 2011. The event was a great success and helped raised funds for The Prince's Trust.

The four JCB 535-140 telehandlers were destined for VP PLC UK Forks, to add to their growing fleet of JCB machinery.

£35,000 JCB Nest...

CHEEP Accommodation: Robins have built a nest inside the grille of a JCB at TC Harrison JCB, in Whisby Way, Lincoln.

TUCKED safely into a nest and peering out with beady eyes, the robin checks to see if the coast is clear before flying out for food to feed her young flock.

And this new mum has more reason than many birds to make extra sure it's safe flying through the front grille of a JCB forklift to set up home.

The daring bird is raising four fledging chicks in the engine of the industrial machine, parked just metres from a busy road at TC Harrison JCB Lincoln, off Whisby Way.

Owners of the new yellow and black £35,000 forklift, Abba Plant Hire, have said they will hold off putting it into action until the chicks have flown the nest.

The depot manager at TC Harrison, Nathan Jenks, said: "I think the birds were first noticed about ten days ago. The eggs must have hatched at some point over the weekend as when we came in on Monday morning there were chicks. Ourselves and Abba wanted to leave the robins be as we didn't see any point in disturbing them. We've been having a look to see how they are getting on."

Martyn Lynes, also from the depot, said: "At first, we thought there was some mud and twigs that had got lodged into the front of the machine, but when we looked closely we realised that it was a nest with a robin and four eggs."

The birds are now expected to stay in the JCB for at least a couple of weeks while the chicks develop their flight feathers and learn to find food for themselves.

News of the robin's success in rearing the new chicks will come as good news to bird watchers in the county after a survey of garden birds by more than 12,200 people in the county failed to spot a single red-breasted robin at all in January.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' (RSPB) Big Garden Birdwatch had logged at least one robin in more than 80 per cent of the gardens taking part last year.

Aileen Wilson, from Abba Plant Hire, said: "We have had it before in other machines with doves and other birds, so they seem to quite like us.

"I think we're all nature lovers and wouldn't dare evict the poor things while they are bringing up their chicks.

"We need the machine out and about for revenue, but our conscience wouldn't let us move them."

JCB's Marathon Fundraising Effort

Six JCB employees pulled their running shoes on in the weekend’s London Marathon – banking thousands of pounds for charity.

Three of the group are running the 26-mile course on Sunday for JCB’s nominated charity, the NSPCC – and between them have so far raised more than £10,000.

UK and Ireland Sales Director Yvette Henshall-Bell, 43, of Barlaston has pledges totalling £7,800 going into her first ever marathon.

JCB UK Sales Manager Leigh Harris, 38, who lives in Stubwood, near Rocester has so far raised more than £2,250 and Senior Design Engineer Patrick Munro, 34, from Mickleover, Derby, is taking on the punishing course for the second year running and so far has raised more than £300 for the charity.

For Yvette, competing in the London Marathon caused a domestic dilemma for husband Mick, who is an avid Stoke City fan and whose team play Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley on the same day as the Marathon.

“After nearly 40 years waiting for Stoke to get to the FA Cup Semi Finals, Mick will be at Wembley, and our daughter Ellie will be cheering me on in the marathon”, Yvette said.

Two more JCB employees are running the Marathon in aid of Help For Heroes. For Charles Bevan, the Chief Engineer, Group Electrical and Electronic Systems, it was his fifth marathon in the capital and he ran it with his daughter Danielle, 39, a nurse at the Nuffield Health North Staffordshire Hospital.

Charles, 64, of Abbots Bromley, has sponsorship totalling £1,400. He is due to retire in August after a total of 34 years at JCB.

Engineer Mick Grindey, 49, of Uttoxeter, is running the marathon as part of two big challenges he wants to complete before he turns 50. He said: “It’s my first marathon in more than 20 years and I plan to complete a 24-hour off-road mountain biking marathon as well.”

The sixth JCB employee taking on the marathon is competitive runner Jim Clarke, 31, who is a member of Uttoxeter Road Runners. He works in the Backhoe Loader Business Unit at Rocester.
