Electric JCB Digger Now Available

JCB isn’t just contributing to the construction of the country but contributing to our planet’s environment and future.

Due to high demand, JCB has made a revolutionary breakthrough by developing the first fully electric powered machine, delivering an impressive zero emissions as well as breaking records for the quietest digger in its range.

JCB was inspired to meet customers’ requirements and along with the motivation to lower emissions they created the first battery-powered digger; its main purpose was to perform in those difficult, hard to get to spaces. This innovative machine has a retractable undercarriage in order to work in tight areas meaning it is ideal for operating indoors, underground and within urban spaces.

The brand new JCB 19C-1 E-TEC doesn’t just match the diesel counterpart but exceeds it. Even though it’s electrically powered, this machine has no limitations and performs to the same speed, quality and strength as similar builds. The performance is powered by an electric motor fitted with three advanced lithium-ion battery packs, allowing it to deliver full energy with a capacity of 15kwh combined with a standard load-sensing hydraulic system that can deliver a powerful digging performance.

The E-TEC excavator’s performance on the construction site will test your loyalty to the petrol alternative.

JCB Chief Innovation of Growth Officer, Tim Burnhope, said: “By replacing the diesel engine with an efficient 48V electrical driveline with the latest generation of automotive battery cells, JCB has once again moved the mini excavator market forward.

“The creation of the first fully electric mini digger has caused a shift in the machinery segment. JCB has made a huge leap forward with the E-TEC range by reducing toxic emissions and noise pollution, thereby improving air quality. This launch is not just going to increase the quality of the environment but change the stigma around construction sites.

“Not only is this new excavator the first that runs entirely on electricity and the first to offer zero emissions, but it is also an incredibly impressive five times quieter which is creating noise at 7dBA lower than the diesel-powered alternative. This is great for both contractors and the public as it means contractors aren’t confined to their working hours in densely populated areas, and are less likely to disturb people around hospitals and schools.

“The 19C-1 E-TEC will provide contractors with zero-emission, low-noise solution, allowing them to work independently, in late night urban conditions, within buildings and even in rail tunnels with no requirement for costly exhaust extraction equipment. The 19C-1 E-TEC points the way to a new zero-emissions future for JCB mini excavators.”

There’s no need to worry about the battery life on this electrically powered machine as the battery pack lasts a full working day, therefore, the work stops when you’re done and not when you run out of power. Even if the unlikely happens, the JCB 19C-1 E-TEC can fully charge from empty in just two hours.

The first of its range, the 1.9 tonne JCB 19C-1 E-TEC had already caused a lot to talk about before it was even available to order.

JCB Chairman, Lord Bamford, has said “JCB has been at the forefront of developing innovative, low emission, construction equipment for many years. In producing an electric JCB mini excavator, we are offering our customers a practical and affordable solution for applications that demand zero emissions and quiet operation.”

This is good news for us, great news for the cities but better news for the planet.
