Hydrogen Refueller
JCB has unveiled a mobile hydrogen refueller – a world first for the industry. The mobile refueller will provide an efficient way to refuel hydrogen-powered machines on site.
£100 million is being invested by JCB into the project that aims to produce super-efficient hydrogen engines. Working prototypes of a backhoe loader and Loadall telescopic handlers have already been created that use hydrogen power.
Roughly 97% of machines already have fuel delivered to them whilst on site. This means that machine users and customers are already used to a fuel that is transportable – allowing for refuelling to occur in minutes.
Lord Bamford, the JCB chairman who is leading the hydrogen project has stated how important hydrogen is as ‘fossil fuels are not the future’.
